it's not wrong if it's the truth.

When Erica Larson became pregnant for the first time, her husband Dean was overjoyed. He had always wanted a child – more specially, a son – to groom to follow in his footsteps. Unable to accept the possibility that his child could be a girl, he set about preparing for its arrival by buying everything a newborn baby boy would need. Needless to say, his hopes were shattered when his wife gave birth to a healthy baby girl with a head full of black hair. It didn't stop him from loving Lindsay or her younger sister Lacey, who arrived two years later, but the sisters had always been aware that he resented them for being the wrong gender.

At first, it made Lindsay desperate for his approval. All she wanted to do was make the man proud because, in her eyes, he was a hero. Daddy has to save the world, her mom would always tell her the night before they relocated to another base, often in a different country. By the time she turned fifteen, Lindsay had lived in at least five different countries. The Larson family moved around too much for the sisters to stay in one school long enough to make progress, so most of their schooling was done on-base by private tutors. No matter what she did, though, her father always expressed favoritism toward Lacey.

As she grew older, Lindsay became more resentful of that favoritism and began acting out because of it. She would sneak out at night and mingle with the local teenagers. It was in Germany that she realized she wanted to have a career in journalism, something that her father was furious to hear. He had wanted her to join the military or, at the very least, pursue one of the more ideal careers like doctor or lawyer. To Dean, the media was corrupt and lied more than it told the truth. To Lindsay, it was about uncovering the truth. Leaving the bubble of the military bases she lived on had taught her there was more to the world than she could imagine, and she wanted to find out whatever she could.

Despite her father's wishes, she was accepted to Boston University and listed her major as journalism. Those four years were her first experience with being somewhere long term, and, for the first time in her life, she no longer had to be closed off for not knowing how long she would be there and was able to make friends rather quickly. Away from the scrutinous eye of her father, she flowered into her own person – with a love of trouble and a refusal to back down from anything she believed in. If she wanted something, she worked to get it and never expected a handout; at least her father could be proud of that.

Lindsay began interning at a local news station in her final year of university. It was here that her priorities began to shift. For a long time, she had imagined leaving college at the end of those first four years and diving in, but something about broadcast journalism pulled her in. There was a glamour to it, sure, but people respected the two well-known faces on their television every evening. If she really wanted to make a difference, maybe that was where she needed to be. So, instead of beginning a job hunt, Lindsay began applying to graduate schools and was eventually accepted to Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She moved there for the fall semester and began writing for the college's newspaper, The Georgetown Voice.

Within a few years, she had obtained her Master's just in time for a real position to open up at WHDH7 in Boston. It was a behind the scenes job, but it was her way in the door. Lindsay had come to love living in Boston, as it was the first place she had been allowed to remain in without fear of relocation. She had seen a large portion of the world growing up and was ready for a little bit of normalcy. She was still young, after all, and could see more of the world later in life if she so chose to.

She remained in her position as a writer for the television station for a few years, and her talent at that eventually won her a promotion to field reporter. She was out in the city, reporting on anything from big events to small fluff pieces, and her love for interacting with the city's citizens did not go unnoticed. Though she had expected to remain in her position for a while, her warm personality caused a lot of people to write in complimenting Lindsay. It was because of this that she was eventually asked to co-anchor the evening news, which she happily accepted.

Two years later, in December 2016, Lindsay and her co-anchor Kyle moved to lead the NBC Boston newsteam following a lawsuit that ended in WHDH losing its NBC affiliation.

facts Lindsay grew up as a bit of a nomad due to her father's role in the United States military. She has lived in various countries, including Japan and Germany, and has learned the basics of a lot of languages because of it. Until moving to Boston after finishing her Master's degree, she had never lived in one place for more than a few years.

Lindsay and her younger sister, Lacey, are very close. Though her sister doesn't live in Boston, the two make sure to visit one another whenever time allows.

Her relationship with her father is strained. He always wanted a boy to train to follow in his footsteps but was given two girls instead. He pushed Lindsay hard to make something of herself and thinks that she is wasting her time reporting the news when she could be doing real good.
